By Joining Citi, you will become part of a global organisation whose mission is to serve as a trusted partner to our clients by responsibly providing financial services that enable growth and economic progress Team/Role Overview The Test Automation and Performance Engineering Global Lead is a senior management-level position responsible for defining and driving the strategy for test automation, performance engineering, and developer tooling across Citi’s global technology teams

This role focuses on embedding testing and performance practices seamlessly into the development lifecycle, leveraging AI, machine learning, and modern tools to accelerate delivery and ensure scalable, reliable, and high-performing software systems

The overall objective of this role is to lead engineering teams that build solutions to enhance developer efficiency while fostering innovation and continuous improvement

What you’ll do Lead strategy and execution for test automation and performance engineering practices, ensuring deep integration with software development workflows to enhance developer efficiency

Drive the adoption of modern tooling, frameworks, and platforms that empower developers to embed testing and performance considerations early in the development lifecycle (“shift-left” approach)

Leverage AI and machine learning to create intelligent automation solutions, predictive analytics, and advanced performance optimization techniques

Define standards for automated testing, performance benchmarking, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines that improve delivery velocity and reliability

Oversee the development and deployment of scalable test automation frameworks and performance engineering tools, ensuring robust automation coverage and effective system validation

Collaborate closely with software engineers and architects to embed testing directly into code development, removing silos between development and testing

Champion the use of developer-focused tools (e.g., unit testing frameworks, stress/load testing tools, code coverage platforms) to reduce manual effort and maximize engineering productivity

Provide leadership in solving engineering challenges such as optimizing system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and ensuring applications scale seamlessly under load

Evaluate and implement cutting-edge industry practices in test automation, continuous performance monitoring, and modern software engineering methodologies (e.g., DevOps, Agile, Site Reliability Engineering)

Manage global teams of engineers and developers, driving alignment and collaboration across regions to consistently deliver results that meet organizational objectives

Partner with senior leaders across functions to advocate for automation and performance engineering initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and mitigating risk

Continuously assess emerging technologies and developer tools to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement across the software development lifecycle

What we’ll need from you Extensive relevant experience, with demonstrated expertise in test automation, performance engineering, and software development practices

Strong developer-oriented focus, with hands-on experience building and integrating developer tooling for testing (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, unit testing frameworks, load/stress testing tools)

Proven track record of implementing large-scale automation frameworks and performance engineering strategies within development teams

Experience with AI/ML applications in software testing and performance monitoring, including predictive quality analytics and intelligent automation tools

Deep understanding of modern software development practices such as Agile, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering, and how they intersect with test automation and performance optimization

Strong technical problem-solving skills to address complex engineering challenges related to system reliability, scalability, and performance

Experience managing global teams, fostering collaboration across regions, and delivering consistent results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across functions and influence senior leaders, external stakeholders, and engineering teams

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred

Certifications in test automation tools, performance engineering platforms, or software development methodologies (e.g., ISTQB, Selenium, JMeter, etc.) are a plus

Hands-on experience with advanced developer tooling such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Selenium, AppDynamics, New Relic, or similar platforms. W hat we can offer you We work hard to have a positive financial and social impact on the communities we serve
