Summary/Objective:

This position is responsible for the day-to-day activities of assigned personnel in the assembly, installation, and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures of fire protection sprinkler systems. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the role also entails a hands-on approach as a working foreman responsible for executing a wide range of skilled construction tasks.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage labor and materials to meet or exceed budgets for assigned tasks.
  • Track hours and manpower on all tasks.
  • Provide training in areas needing improvement to ensure quality, production, and safety.
  • Perform various skilled construction tasks.
  • Attend job site and office meetings as required for assigned projects.
  • Interpret company policy and enforce safety regulations.
  • Guide crews in meeting budgets and project schedules.
  • Ability to manage installation fitters and helpers on-site.
  • Interpret blueprints and architectural drawings.
  • Install wet, CPVC, and steel systems in commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Plan work to maximize efficiency in utilizing assigned manpower and resources.
  • Inspect ongoing and completed work to ensure adherence to contract specifications.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for the work performed.
  • Demonstrate positive teamwork, acting as a team leader and mentor.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Complete projects in a timely manner, upholding the highest quality standards and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in the Fire Sprinkler Installation field or an equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience as a Foreman.
  • In-depth knowledge of NFPA 13 and relevant codes.
  • Ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, and follow written and oral instructions with attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer pre-employment drug screen and potentially complete additional background checks (e.g., DMV, criminal history).
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures is essential.
  • Must be available and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned.

Work Environment:

  • Work may be conducted in varying temperatures (both inside and outside) and may include inclement weather conditions such as heat, humidity, cold, and dampness.
  • Exposure to moderate/high noise levels is possible.
  • May encounter fumes or airborne particles, including dust.
  • Required to work in confined spaces or at heights.

Physical Demands:

  • This role routinely involves using construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand, and power tools.
  • Job duties may involve climbing, bending, pulling, reaching overhead, standing/walking for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands to manipulate tools or controls and reach with hands and arms is required.
  • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of color-coded cables/wires and possess good eyesight, including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.

Travel:

  • Travel may be required (typically not overnight).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior military experience.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
